High Lateral MIs || EMS Cardiology

A high lateral MI is a type of heart attack that typically indicates an occlusion of the first diagonal branch of the left anterior descending coronary artery. It is an uncommon and often overlooked STEMI most likely due to it’s size. A special characteristic of this STEMI is what is referred to as the South African flag sign, this is due to the elevation in I, aVL & V2 & reciprocal depression in III. Keep a lookout for this small, but mighty MI.
