🚑🌟The History of the Star of Life || A Symbol of EMS🌟🚑

🌟 We have all seen the Star of Life on ambulances and uniforms, but do you really know the significance? 🩺

👉 The Star's Origins: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) designed the Star of Life in the 1970s as a sign of standardized excellence in emergency medical services.

👉 The Six Points: The shape was not chosen lightly, it has genuine meaning. It is a six-pointed star representing the six important stages of EMS care.

👉 The Serpent and the Staff: The emblem in the middle contains a serpent coiled around a staff, referred to as “the staff of Asclepius”. Asclepius was said to have been a Greek physician referred to as the God of Medicine. The combination of the serpent and staff represents medicine, healing, and rejuvenation.

The Star of Life also serves as a symbol of unity amongst all EMS providers and a reminder of the commitment to provide timely, expert care, even when the circumstances are not ideal.
