September 11th || May We Never Forget

I had a post topic picked out for today before I looked at the date. It can wait for another day. Let’s talk about what happened in our country 21 years ago. Tragedy…..pure and utter tragedy. Where were you? Do you remember?

I walked into my jr. high US history class that morning. Our teacher waited for us all to sit down and said “I could teach you about history like I had planned today, but I won’t. Instead we will watch it, (the news) because we are living history.” He was right, history was unfolding before our very eyes. That day was absolutely devastating for the country. 3,000 unsuspecting Americans were killed just living out what seemed to be a normal Tuesday morning. The entire country was forever changed.

The first responder world was deeply wounded by the loss of close to 400 of their own including firemen, police officers, port authority officers and so many others. These selfless individuals lost their lives while trying to save others.

21 years have passed and because of my age and career choice, I have a totally different perspective on what happened that day. The atrocities that first responders faced that day are what nightmares are made of.

I remember the sadness felt across the country.

We were a nation wounded, but we were united.

May we never forget.

God bless America 🇺🇸
